During this time, a group of adventurers reached the inner reaches of this hellish plane and found a way to regrow the branches of Yggdrasil into the Beneath, evaporating some parts of the Way of Black Tears and allowing magical flow to partially resume in the form of wellsprings.

As Jaernians come to rely on them, it is found that they are in fact mind-controlling Jaernians in the name of "instilling order". An adventuring party including a few people named Kira and Cronk had a role in expelling the Jalera, returning Jaern to normal.

Suspicions run hot that the Mages' Guild itself may be responsible for the plague, in an effort to make money from the sick.
