 +====== New Alimar ======
 +
 +===== History =====
 +
 +New Alimar was originally a mining colony sent by the dwarves of Kratal to Lojem. With the intention of bringing riches back to their continent, the people burrowed deep into Mount Fajro.  They established one of the largest, if not the largest, mining communities on the planet. Frega Bemor was selected to be the Clan Holder for the area, and she has held this position for the past twenty years.
 +
 +Most of the city’s history as a dwarven colony has been uneventful given its seclusion from the rest of the world. However, one major discovery completely shook up the city’s place in the world; Coal. While originally the colony was meant to dig for gold and silver to send back to Kratal, the discovery of coal brought the city to a new industrial age. Coal that is mined there powers many of the carts going back into the mine. It is used in every furnace, lights every street, and powers any new machine someone can come up with. Coal is used so much that a thick black haze of coal dust wraps around the city. Only the Summit exists above this haze. Inside the center of the city, the daytime is indistinguishable from the night.

 +===== Religion and Government =====
 +
 +The city of New Alimar doesn’t have too much in the way of religion, outside of Kratal’s Tetratheon. Even then, the temples have very little sway over much of the city. The temples of Ra and Osiris hate the rampant pollution in the city, while the priests of T’or and At’ena are mostly indifferent to the matter. Both Osirites and Ra’ites are leaving at a quickened pace, stating they are unable to perform their most basic of functions within the city. Some say the city may eventually become cursed by one of the two deities if they do not reform their ways soon.
 +
 +New Alimar’s politics are very simple yet not very pleasant. A Clan Holder is selected by a counsel of the twenty oldest dwarves in the city, and said Clan Holder serves for life. There is no way for a Clan Holder to leave their position other than through death. Some have compared the position to that of a dictator. It doesn’t help that the oldest dwarves are usually the richest as well, meaning they are likely to take a route heavily drenched in nepotism and elect someone related to them rather than someone fitting for the position.
 +
 +This combination of factors is why there have been quite a few small rebel groups in the city. While none have been able to overthrow the government yet, clearly, they do exist. Sadly, the government keeps news of these groups to a minimum. They know that if the rebellious groups were to combine their forces, they would outnumber and overpower the ruling class, meaning those in charge do their best to ensure communication between each is stifled constantly. This game can’t be kept up forever, though, and some worry a rebellion could start as quickly as a fire inside the coal dust of the city.
 +
 +===== Culture =====
 +
 +New Alimar’s culture can be split into three separate parts aligning with the three districts. The Einfach district is the main face that the city projects to others. The people here are generally friendly, middle class folk. It’s almost got a small-town vibe to it. The Einfach district is the simplest part of the city.
 +
 +The Mittel district is a somewhat rough and tumble area. Given that most of the citizens are common workers in tough industry jobs, many of them don’t spend much on frivolities. Most of the people there are simply tired and overworked. Some talks of revolution exist among these groups, though these rebellious inclinations are usually squashed before they have the chance to spread. This area of the city is carved into the side of the mountain, almost vertically. Serving as a living area for most of the working class, many say from far away it looks like the night sky if it were to lay on the ground.
 +
 +The Summit district is almost the exact opposite of the Mittel district. Most of the people there haven’t truly worked a day in their lives. I must specify most. While most simply come from old money, a few have worked for their money. Most of these include famous musicians or artists. The rest of the people from The Summit are old-money mining barons.

 +===== Locations =====
 +
 +The Mosteim Mines - The Mosteim Mines are a series of large tunnels deep beneath the city. Most of them lead nowhere, a few lead into the mines themselves, and one large tunnel leads through the volcano directly to Rougtero. Of course, this path is almost never taken, as it becomes unbearably hot down there. The mines themselves house vast amounts of coal deposits.
 +
 +Summit Street - Summit Street is the main block where most of the upper crust live. Notably, it is not actually near the summit of Mount Fajro. It is just above the smoky black cloud of the city and just below where the air becomes cold, dropping snow to the ground. Summit Street contains a long row of overly fancy houses. The largest of these, made of a thick black granite and decorated with white marble, is the Clan Holder’s residence. If one wants to find a person of great importance, they likely live in this area of the city.
 +
 +The Tankard - This very simple tavern is one of the few hotspots for travelers. On a first glance, it appears perfectly average for a bar. However, it houses a semi-legendary drink known as Antlion Brandy. While not made from any part of an actual antlion, these drinks are said to be so intoxicating that even the toughest of dwarves get wasted from a singular sip. It is famous across the continent for this stuff, making The Tankard a popular tourist spot for people.

 +===== Important NPCs =====
 +
 +Clan Holder Frega Bemor - Clan Holder Frega is an older dwarven woman with a long gray braided beard. Her hair still contains a few brown streaks in it, though it is kept in the same style of braid as her beard. Frega is a shrewd old woman. Her focus is on profit and expansion, little else. Her original goal for the city was to create a small mining community. What she founded was practically an empire that has distinguished itself from Kratal. Cold and calculating, Frega has ruled over the area for a long time and does not intend to quit until she dies, no matter how many times the people rebel or try to kill her.
 +
 +Kura Bo - Kura Bo is a very short half gnome half dwarf. He has curly brown hair and a small freckled face. Some mistake him for a halfling. A master of mathematics and statistics, he was hired by Clan Holder Frega to keep her finances as her accountant. Despite existing in this heavily corrupt system, he’s quite honest. He’s likely the most honest and hardworking person in the upper echelon of this town. Kura is fairly closed off and antisocial. He much prefers his books and his numbers to interacting with people. He only meets with people if they seek him out and he is unable to weasel his way out of the situation.
 +
 +Gretel Anistrom - Gretel Anistrom is a portly dwarven composer from New Alimar. She has long flowing auburn hair. Despite being one of the richer people in the area, she refuses to wear fancy clothes, instead sticking to simple leather armor. She is a great composer, though sadly she is still breaking into the limelight a bit. Her compositions are famous in New Alimar, but she has had troubles breaking out into the rest of the world. Fortunately for her, she may get a chance to obtain recognition. Unfortunately, it is because a close friend of hers, one much more famous than herself and who composed music of a similar style to hers, recently was murdered. Gretel went into a long mourning period about it, but seems to be holding up well nowadays. Some still worry, though, as her recent pieces all contain an edge of darkness and melancholy in them. Still, on the front, she is still the friendly albeit slightly defensive lady her neighbors know and love. She lives at the Summit due to her status as a rich composer.
 +
 +Slovitz Vognar - Slovitz Vognar is an elderly orcish man. His frizzled gray hair is balding at the top, and he has thick mutton chops. Slovitz is an unsociable old man who simply wishes to write his music in peace. He is a composer who lives near the Summit. What sets him out from the rest is that he writes all his pieces in orcish, using dwarven phonetics. He hopes that one day it will bring enough pride in art and the written word to the orcish people that they will finally form a written language. He also has an odd fondness for collecting knives.
