-====== Leifsholm ======
-===== History =====

-This is the legend that is told of Leifsholm's history...
-
-Not long after the fall of the great empire, a powerful warrior known simply as Araboj the Archer became well known both for his valor and his love of the wilderness. His staunch devotion to protecting the environment and its natural ecosystems caught the eye of the Osiris of the time. Osiris asked of Araboj a great task, to watch over the recently created forest grove known as the Silvae Osirae. Araboj happily took up the task. As a reward, he was gifted an island to build a home on and make his. As long as the Silvae Osirae on the neighboring island were maintained, Araboj's island would produce more than enough crops to feed anyone living on the island. However, if the health of the magical grove began to falter, so too would the crops come the next harvest.
-
-Araboj moved to the island with his family and a few friends. Over time, a few others dedicated living in peace with nature joined the island hamlet. The small collection of people swelled into a small village, though population size seems to have remained consistent since then. The people declared Araboj the king of the island due to his duties and their love of him as a leader.
-
-Ever since then, the royal family's blood has been blessed by Osiris. The family still rules over the island, and still shares a deep connection with Osiris's enchanted woods. The small village eventually became known as the Home of Leaves due to its immense amount of trees, shortened to Leave's Home, and finally transmuted into Leifsholm. Many outsiders proclaim these events as mere legends, but even the grandest of legend may have some truth to it...
-
-===== Culture and Politics =====
-
-Leifsholm is a very culturally isolated place. It is not very technologically advanced, due to the peoples' dedication to ensuring sustainability and care for nature. If Leifsholm adopts a piece of technology, it usually bodes well as it effectively a declaration of care. In recent years, they have begun to build large wooden ships to help the few merchants in the village get around easier, though they almost completely missed out on the age of exploration and adventurers. Most in the village have never even heard of adventurers being a full time job.
-
-The common folk live a more rustic lifestyle. It is not without its hardships or trivialities, but it is a peaceful life. Most of the residents appear to prefer the simple life, though this could be due to the fact that they know almost no other way of living. Every once in a while, an intrepid soul will leave and go to the outside world. A few years later, they always return, searching again for the simple life they so desperately left in the first place.
-
-The current ruler, King Gordon, is said to descend from Araboj himself. His son, Prince Loog II, is his only heir. The queen died five years after Loog was born. The city is as simple as a monarchy can be. The monarch gets the final say on most decisions and laws, the people pay their taxes with the food they grow or some other form of payment, and the next ruler is determined based on the lineage of the royal family. This system seems to have worked mainly due to the village being fairly small. King Gordon knows most of his subjects by name and has personal relationships with them. This allows the king to make more informed and personal decisions. The city, as a result of being ruled by someone they consider a friend, has a decently low crime rate. There aren’t even enforcers. If someone does wrong, they are dealt with by the King himself.
-
-===== Economics =====
-
-Leifsholm is mainly a farming village, which is notably odd for Jaern. As such, its economy is fairly small. Combine the small economy with the solitary nature, and you get a town that isn’t all that resplendent. Most of the village can barely afford iron, houses are mainly wood and thatch, even the royalty lives in a large wooden home rather than some form of castle.
-
-While gold coins are still utilized in town, especially when trading with outsiders, many of the townsfolk prefer bartering as a system of trading goods. The peoples' taxes are even paid in goods rather than in gold coins most of the time.
-
-===== The Silvae Osirae =====
-
-The Silvae Osirae is a forested grove resting on a nearby island connected to the island of Leifsholm via the landbridge. The grove is teeming with hundreds of rare plants and animals. A few species of plant can only be found in this grove. The animals live a quiet life without disturbance. Legends say the water found in the grove can restore the lifeforce of those who drink from it. Unfortunately, only a select few are ever allowed into the grove. To be allowed in, you must fulfill one of three conditions. You must either be a descendant of Araboj, a priest of Osiris, or be invited in by someone who fulfills either of the previous conditions. Any who try to enter without the permission of a royal family member or an Osirite will be met with a blockade of massive poisonous thorns.
