T'ors Treningsplass

History

In a highly egotistical move made by the T’orites of Lojem, a large enclave was established near the summit of Mount Fajro. The T’orites said it was for training purposes, as the constant cold would harden them and force them to remain vigilant, or something. In truth, the reason the enclave was established at the summit is so that the T’orites there could keep a metaphorical eye on the rest of the continent. Most any city on the main body of Lojem can be accessed from this point, especially Rougtero. This allows them to transfer word between cities quicker and serve as a central hub for dealing with Lojem’s issues. On top of that, it satiates their egos.

“Culture” and Politics

The Treningsplass is less of a city and more of a castle or fortress. Serving as a combination training arena, barracks, detective agency, and “symbol of justice”, only T’orites are allowed to have a permanent residence there. Rules are strict and unwavering, punishments are severe, and yet surprisingly there is little to no corruption. When you can ensure an act of corruption will lead to an almost automatic death sentence, nobody dares to slip up. Given the constant cold and snow, most food has to be imported, usually from Rougtero or Gendle. Generally speaking, wealth is shared among the people living there, as is labor. They follow a “from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs'' approach to managing everything. The Treningsplass is currently headed by Marshal Rudyard Gutwald, an older lizard man with an absurdly powerful bow more similar to an artillery gun than a bow. Everybody calls him “the Captain.” His right hand and next in line is the recently promoted Signor Lydia Chapelle. This has upset Signor Brotho Hrusti as his previous right hand, creating some tension between the two.

Architecture

The Treningsplass is a massive structure, almost half a mile wide on each side. It is a fortress the size of a small city. Watchtowers fifty feet high are constructed on the four corners of the very square fortress. There is a large chapel in the fortress. There is a hidden pathway beneath the floors of this chapel that leads deep into a cave in the mountains containing a strange obelisk showing the symbol of T’or. Not much is known about this obelisk. The entrance to the pathway is hidden beneath the rug, the most secure place possible.

In 10081, the fortress suffered a lot of damage at the hands of a strange being known as Jove. Allegedly, Jove used his great power and strange magic to utterly destroy the Captain’s Tower. There is only a crater where this tower stood. The fortress was sundered in two thanks to the ordeal, though most of the repairs are underway. The greatest loss was the central tower. The underground cavern is now filled with magma due to a small entrance opened in the nearby volcano, however the flow has been plugged, meaning there are no worries about the rest of the fortress becoming flooded with said magma. This definitely occurred due to “Jove’s Magic” and “is not due to chaos magic at all,” according to the party that defeated Jove.

Other Details

Important NPCs

Marshal Rudyard Gutwald - A very tall and muscular lizard man with piercing green eyes and dark red scales. He wields a bow more similar to an artillery gun than an actual bow. He usually goes by “The Captain.” Rudyard is a gruff, older lizard who recognizes he may pass soon. He’s usually quite strict and uptight, wishing for nothing short of perfection from his priests. He is usually disappointed. Rudyard is also quite easy to fool. He’s not very bright. Despite this he can also be very suspicious of people. Many attribute this strange contradiction to his old age causing his mind to slowly degrade.

Signor Lydia Chapelle - Signor Lydia Chapelle is a reasonably tall human woman with both green eyes and strangely matching hair. She refuses to comment on if she dyes it or not. For a T’orite she is a bit soft spoken, though don’t mistake that with also being soft. Lydia has a strong sense of right and wrong and will gladly take down any miscreant she comes across. She simply acts more polite in her interactions with outsiders, preferring to listen rather than to speak. Lydia is a bit more understanding when it comes to rules, preferring them to be followed but not without question or reason. In her eyes, every rule must have a reason behind it and should be carefully considered. Lydia leans more towards the Justice aspect of T’or rather than the Law part. As far as T’orites go, she’s got a reasonable head on her shoulders.

Signor Brotho Hrusti - Signor Brotho is a very well built elf with blue eyes and short red hair. He’s a ginger. Brotho is a very stereotypical “dudebro”. He’s loud, confident, and much more focused on his physical strength and appearance than anything else. Even most T’orites consider him dumb. Despite this, he has a good heart and has achieved many deeds of valor. Just don’t trust him to do any sort of thinking ever. Many are secretly quite glad that Lydia replaced him as the next in line.
