[Main CoTSS] Library Amongst The Stars III (Abydos?, Dahabu)

Plot Synopsis

Barricaded inside a broken-down shack, surrounded by the bounty hunters he’d spent his whole life running away from. Memories of that day…a target gone wrong…the condemnation of a faithful as sinful…left with no one to trust. No one for Rolc Rockslidder, except the ever trustworthy companion strapped to the hip. As if one last favor, finally putting its owner to eternal rest. Naoughwniey awoke with a start for a haunting nightmare; Strange memories that felt familiar yet still alien lingered in his mind. A notion only worsened with the sounds of loud shouting from outside his sleeping quarters ringing in his head. Leaving behind a cowering Hatice to find an intense argument between Aruna and the Guard Captain Theodora, barely mediated by a reluctant Mustafa. Seemingly both at their wits end over political developments in Andromeda, the altercation only ended with Aruna threatening to burn the city down if necessary, leaving Theodora to storm out without a second word. Aruna then confessed to Legolass the true prospects of finding ancient Dahabuan magic hidden within the Library, that she had used as an incentive for funding the expedition.

The party re-entered the Library, only to find traces of gunpowder scattered about. As the party investigated further, they came face to face with people who didn’t belong. Hunters from Abydos looking to track down an escaped bounty. Though they tried to hide their presence, somehow they managed to find Naoughwniey. Even as he fled, even as he gunned down everyone in his path, still they came. Until cornered with nowhere left to go, he burst through a door to find himself in the dark alleyway streets of Abydos. The Crimson Moon gently illuminating the land below with its eerie red tint.

An encounter with a group of hunters, including someone he once called a brother, forced him to flee once more. Only leaving behind an inkling of mysterious demons wandering the night.
He came across a hooded figure feasting upon two drunken passerby's, tearing off its skin to reveal a clawed monster of shadows. Though he managed to dispatch the beast, its cryptic hints lead him to the Church of Tor. Finding the site a battleground, littered with dead hunters and monsters, an ominous wall of shadow leaking from the ajar door. Suddenly joined by his new companions, Naoughwniey set-off to slay a horrid beast, only to discover a child crying for warmth. Overlain with visions of a familiar young girl consumed by shadows in the Library, he found a Nephilim of Tenebrus, abandoned for the sin of snuffing out the life of its twin in-birth. Though he tried to comfort this kindred spirit, even as its desperate painful cries ravaged his mind, its words twisted the mind of Frogmann. Legolass channeled his magic, aghast at seeing his servant betray him, into a ghastly scythe, cutting the child in twine, while Idris held back an enraged Naoughwniey. As the illusion of the church faded, the party was left with the corpse of a young girl and a single torn photograph to mark their progress.
