The Rougtero Incident Session 8

Plot Synopsis

At the table with Brently and Baldwin Shallowshanks (the Neptunian from session 7) there was another individual gambling, Zora (Josh’s character who is now joining the party). The party ends up enlisting Zora’s help along with hiring Baldwin to investigate the wall. Baldwin isn’t able to do much (he’s buns at magic), but they end up finding some info out and go to the Neptunian temple. After meeting High Priest Bakas again, the party finds out that his condition is deteriorating. After talking with him, the party determines the exact nature of the disease and how to cure it (Hanlon is artificially keeping the fish particles alive even though they have been digested and transported to the cells, since the fish cannot die/be absorbed, the cells which have fish particles inside them essentially undergo cell death, but cannot die because of Hanlon. By taking the afflicted outside Hanlon’s influence and temporarily revoking the Hirudo spell to prevent them from dying, the body can metabolize the fish particles and clear the illness.) Additionally, they figured out that the Neptunian magic alone in the Hirudo ritual requires about 50 units per day to be sustained. Then, the party determined that magic was likely being siphoned from the milphite crystal repository in the Neptunian temple. While investigating the room, they discovered that many of the spells in the room had been drained in such a way that they still worked, but were anemic as if they had been finessed down. Then, the party camped outside repository overnight and waited to find whoever was draining the milphite’s power. They found the guy who did it, he drained the power into a copper wire which was powering a magic light. When he left, Zora confronted and distracted him until Spice bludgeoned him. 300 GP, 2900 EXP.
