Plot Synopsis
Book 4: The Melancholy Soul
Chapter I: The Adventurers and the Demoness
The party woke up in the middle of a forest around an extinguished campfire. They heard a disembodied voice known as the Storyteller who told them their goal was to Slay a Demoness who was in the basement of a House in the forest. Party questioned the Storyteller, and he was quite vague about the reasoning other than the Demoness would destroy the world if she escaped. Party decided to set fire to the House and try to kill the Demoness without interacting with her. However, some of them weren't entirely sure the job was done. So, Rudrus went down to confirm the kill. He tried to double-tap the Demoness, but she lashed out with her final life left and killed Rudrus. Party came down and avenged Rudrus. The world then went dark.
Chapter II: The Razor
The party woke up in the middle of a forest around an extinguished campfire. They heard a disembodied voice known as the Storyteller who told them their goal was to Slay a Demoness who was in the basement of a House in the forest. Party questioned the Storyteller, and he was quite vague about the reasoning other than the Demoness would destroy the world if she escaped. Party then went down into the basement without their weapons to try to reason/talk with the Demoness. She was acting unusual and asked for them to free her. Eventually, Kessel went to free her, but a blade came out of the Demoness' knee in an attempt to stab Kessel. Kessel dodged, then party fought the Demoness. All of party was killed except for Vane, whom the Demoness took as a 'trophy' of her victory. As Vane began to wake up in an unfamiliar place, the world went dark.
Bonus One-shot Chapter IX: The Nightmare
The party woke up in the middle of a forest around an extinguished campfire. They heard a disembodied voice known as the Storyteller who told them their goal was to Slay a Demoness who was in the basement of a House in the forest. Party questioned the Storyteller, and he was quite vague about the reasoning other than the Demoness would destroy the world if she escaped. Party had an unfamiliar feeling that something had changed. The world wasn't as it was supposed to be, and it was like they hopped into a different dimension of what could've been. Party berated the Storyteller with questions he didn't want to answer that he deemed unrelated to their task at hand. Eventually, party went into the house and stopped before going into the basement. Kessel and Rudrus discussed how to flirt with eldritch beings and even attempted to DI multiple times until Rudrus got smote into becoming a gay piranha. Party went downstairs and met with a horrific version of the Demoness that paralyzed them with fear. They had a conversation of trying to heal old wounds of the Demoness and fix their relationship. She thought she was beyond saving. Eventually, party fought the Demoness. Ruby did not want a fate worse than death, so she removed herself from life before the combat started. Kessel got turned into a stone statue medusa style but became a handsome statue of David that made piranha Rudrus... aroused. Rudrus got Swallowed and died in the Demoness' stomach. Yaupon survived a last-ditch effort by the Demoness, but he was the lone survivor. Party had won with many casualties, but then the world went dark.
Chapter III: The Hollow
The party woke up in the middle of a forest around an extinguished campfire, but something was off. The Storyteller began glitching, and party's consciousness was teleported to a void. They spoke with a being who called themself The Monolith. The Entity explained that they were a part of a simulation that was meant to experiment and gather data on the Demoness. The Entity explained that there had been a glitch after this most recent 'loop', and the Demoness was starting to take control of various parts of the experiment. They asked the Monolith various questions about their situation and who the Entity was. The Entity answered that it was granting Dr. Vortex and various other self-proclaimed 'warlocks' powers in exchange for them working for the Entity in a pact style contract. Party then was dragged back to the House for another and final encounter with the Demoness. Rudrus went down the basement, but it was a smooth slide instead of stairs, and he fell. Party joined him, and the Demoness had Vane with her. She sliced Vane's head only to have it remain 'alive' and 'conscious' rolling on the ground. Party did not have their equipment nor could they cast any spells, and the Demoness killed them all. They woke up again in the same place and were able to overcome the shock of not being at their full capacity. They slayed the Demoness with everyone surviving for the first time. Then, Yaupon found a glitch in the magic of the House in the dining room. He unlocked it magically, and Kessel opened it. Party went through and woke up in vats of healing liquids. They were able to get out (some stealthily and some not so stealthily) and obtain their equipment. They were back in the real world and met with Dr. Vortex. He thanked them for being a part of the experiment and promised payment for their participation.
