Plot Synopsis
The party rests at the Church of the Fool. They plan for their day at breakfast with Father Sinclair. They plan to look for someone to make items out of their Beyonder characteristics, as their previous lead is now incarcerated by the Inquisition. They go and buy the newspaper from a child in the market district. They see an ad for the circus and also a suspicious ad for a toaster. Sylva hopes to find employment with the traveling circus, boasting of her fire-related showmanship, and demonstrating her skills using her pyrokinesis. She manages to become a replacement for a poor juggler, Jerry, who caught himself on fire during their last performance. During all of this Zaphani is suddenly overcome by some magical force as his eyes change color and he starts to see more of the world. He is able to see the essence of people, he looks at Atlas and sees Atlas before he became who he is now. Eventually he gets this power under control before he goes insane from the influx of information. Mr. Sims and Kali go to investigate the fighting ring. Mr. Sims hypes up Kali as she prepares to fight Iron Fist Henry. The rest of the party catches up after hearing. Mr. Sims and Henry engage in some trashtalk, with Mr. Sims casting magic to rig the fight, after being thrown as a club. Kali, introducing herself as The Red Mist, marks down Henry in the book of vengeance. Kali weaves under his punch and launches an uppercut against Henry. After knocking him back, Kali leaps in, but both are now grappling each other, locked in a bear-hug. Kali runs in to deliver a devastating blow (EXCP STR) to his chin and ribs, breaking his bones for a decisive knockout. Mr. Sims and Sylva win a big payout, as Kali is applauded by new fans. They then head to the “toaster” listing to investigate. They find suspiciously out-of-place people speaking an unfamiliar language, all wearing masks and cloaks in some kind of gathering. The party is grilled for their weird lack of modern knowledge. Finally the gathering begins. Atlas advertises the need for crafting, waiting in-line for a famous crafter. The gold cost is quite substantial, causing the party to discuss a deal. Tarot Card and Glowing card crafted for burning coal and fish scale for cost. The party heads to the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery, where Mr. Sims talks to a priest for details. Seeing the mass will take awhile, the party tries to find a gambling den to waste time. Atlas and Zaphani play cards and lose big-time. Mr. Sims goes to talk with Father Percy once mass is over. Mr. Sims is able to examine the graveyard, but finds it to be oddly silent. Mr. Sims makes a deal with a random rich ghost named Arnold accepting the offer to try and be transported to the royal palace. Mr. Sims goes to the palace and enters through the tour group. He deposits Arnold in the memorial to Emperor Rossele. They then go and eat at a nice restaurant, where J.I.M sets a lobster loose, and Mr. Sims ends up killing the poor lobster.. Sylva does a cool fire act combined with shadow horse, drawing a nice flower. She ends by setting herself on fire (to the concern of the crowd) to roaring applause. Mr. Sims captivates the audience, before being kicked out for advertising his store. The crowd returns to the Church of the Fool to rest up after a long day of shenanigans and finally receive their sequence 7 potions.
