Plot Synopsis
Atlas is brought to an investigation chamber by Penelope and is interrogated by an inquisitor by the name Maribel. He is asked about what occurred during the events of the ball and retells the events to the best of his ability. Maribel believes some of his story, but does not believe that non-Beyonders could have handled the event. She manages to learn that Atlas and his party are a group of Beyonders and wonders how they could have gotten their potions. The rest of the party slowly wakes up in the infirmary, and has a conversation with Angleo, another inquisitor. Everyone reconciles with Kali and acknowledges what happened yesterday. Atlas receives a maddening vision viewing Sequence 1 gods. He begins losing control and shaking off Inquisitors, by entering a rage state, attempting to hold him down. It takes Penelope’s Beyonder power to calm down Atlas and bring him back to normal. She forces Atlas to sign a notary and confirms their allegiance to Church of the Fool. Peneople has Mirabel bring Atlas back to the infirmary to reunite with the party. Penelope explains about the formal world of Beyonders. Charles is having a mental breakdown, asking about Astolfo and trying to reconcile their actions. Penelope allows the party to go and tells Angelo to initiate Charles into the Inquisition. The party (alongside the unconscious Bubbles) walks back to the Church of the Fools where they receive their Sequence 8 potions. Temperance walks them through their experience with Acting and their new potions. JIM drinks the potion and starts losing control, he’s calmed down by the combined Beyonder powers of Zaphani and Thomas. They take the time to explore and explain everyone’s new ability. Temperance takes the time to reveal their appearance and introduce the Rose School of Thought. Temperance vs Indulgence faction. Cult breakup. A very serious drama. Evil Outer Gods coming to destroy the world. They need to stop the Evil tree of shadows that will feed power to the Mother Tree of Desire. Temperance provides the party with a lead to investigate underground Trier, while Mr. Sims wants to stop by Mr. Anzak’s mansion. But they all go to District 4 instead. Mr. Sims meets Larry, the one zombie he could resurrect. They then go to the execution area, where Casey watches Larry Casey be executed. Mr. Sims hides himself on the corpse cart to find more corpses. He somehow recruits an amalgamated abomination of malice and hate. The rest of the party has to follow along to District 20 while watching for Mr. Sims’s corpse cart. Bodies are unloaded into a mass grave. Filler episode shenanigans, as Mr. Sims lies his way to explain his presence. The guard doesn’t believe in Mr. Sims’s cover story and he doesn’t get in. The party then goes to Lord Bartholomew’s mansion. He greets Mr. Sims as an old friend and lets them into the basement of Red Swan castle, as thanks for saving him during the ball. Mr. Sims, Thomas, and Sylva decide to traverse further into the forbidden maze-like area of the basement. While the rest of them watch as JIM writes poetry to distract the spirit of Bartholomew’s ancestor.
Noteworthy Postgame Events
