Whispers of the Deep IX (Foe'vadi, Jearn)

Plot Synopsis

Party entered the sewers and quickly found that the sewers were swarming with abysslings. The abysslings avoided them while the party worked their way towards a main room that they discovered on the first day of the campaign. Once entering the room they found a group of abysslings clustered at one end of the room with a small waist high abyssling creature waddling towards them. After several rounds of the creature waddling towards them they finally entered combat. The bloom around the room quickly expanded and the creature teleported, merging with the bloom and reappearing in the bloom nearest party. There was also several 'cow' like abysslings that were spreading the bloom throughout the cavern. Party quickly obliterated the strange waddling creature and after a moment it reappeared, now at head height and hitting far harder. After several rounds it was killed again, body destroyed completely before it reemerged from the bloom with a scream. Each time it reappeared all the abysslings in the rooms melted into the bloom while new ones streamed through. In its newest rebirth it was around 15 feet tall and wide and could strike at foes 15 feet away from it, dealing far more damage. Party was hard fought but after several rounds it was finally put down once more. It then reappeared as a 20 ft tall monstrosity. Spite, in response, grew to be 50 ft tall and proceded to beat and toss around the abyssling monstrosity. Party helped with magic items given out by atirathi that exploded on impact. After several hundred damage and one round the beast lay dead. However, spite was also almost dead, not to the beast but to the explosive magic items tossed at the beast by party. After this last round, the explosions, and the titanic fight between spite and the waddling creature, the roof finally caved in, exposing the light of the sun. Party then levitated out of the hole in the street and pronounced ominious warnings like "I have become death, destroyer of abysslings" and other such sayings. Spite also climbed out, lacking the units to shrink his form so he strolled through the streets as a titanic figure. Party quickly left the city, avoiding the guards and officials wanting to know what happened. A week later, the civilians party had left infected yesterday, changed into fish like monsters and began to attack people and buildings.
