The Day Has Come! The Night Is Passing! Silmarillion Game - Part 3
Plot Synopsis
Having gained Fëanor’s initial good will by joining him and his retinue in hunting down Orcs, the party properly greeted him and explained their errand of uniting the Elven peoples to best take down Morgoth. Fëanor invited them to his encampment that was acting as a staging group for the offensive he was leading against Morgoth. There, the party was brought to the command tent and met Fëanor’s wife Nerdanel, who was one of the only people who could calm him. The main friction between the party and accomplishing their goal was Fëanor’s view that he and his followers were the only ones taking the fight against Morgoth as seriously as they should and thus in the right for attacking the Elves who they believed refused to help them against Morgoth.
The party continued this discussion as they set off on another stage of the hunt with Fëanor, this time planning to link up with the forces of his two youngest sons, Amrod and Amras. The plan was to execute the first of a series of pincer maneuvers to drive back the last remnant of Morgoth’s forces behind the inner line of the Siege of Angband. The party confronted Fëanor while on the way that regardless of what he claimed his deeds were for, they were for his own pride and served to hinder the Elves, not help them. Then charging down into a valley where they had trapped unsuspecting Orcs, the party made short work of them despite the size of the horde, driving even the trolls towards the valley sides where Fëanor’s sons appeared to trap and finish them off. With the influence of Nerdanel and his sons tempering him, Fëanor accepted some of the party’s words, agreeing that he desired to focus on combating Morgoth over grudges with the other Elves.
