Plot Synopsis

After defeating the Phyrexians in the previous week, the party was able to advance further and get a closer look at what they were guarding. The west group advanced past the staging area, as well as doubling back along a previous passage, both times finding hidden passageways that led further on into the laboratory. The group going south advanced briefly further as well, finding themselves in a large circular room that was clearly not meant just for individual experiments, but as a control center or hub for all the experiments the Phyrexians were undertaking in the dungeon. The west group found more information on these experiments, as they found a room that was clearly the central data storage area of the dungeon, where they were able to decipher from notes etched on darksteel sheets that the Phyrexians were doing something related to draining and combining other Phyrexians.

When the west group advanced further, they came upon the only non-Phyrexians they had seen so far, who were a group of four prisoners shackled to the walls in a dungeon holding cell. Both groups quickly recombined to speak to the hostages, who were in poor health and grateful to be saved. They informed the party that what the Phyrexians were trying to do that was unclear from the notes, was to remove the essence of Phyrexian corruption from other Phyrexians, to combine it into another Phyrexian to make it stronger. These researchers had come to this place to learn about the applications of this for cleansing the Phyrexian taint from those transformed before they were captured. The party opened a portal back to the Gatewatch scouts on Zendikar, which surprised and scared them, but allowed the hostages to be sent to safety as they continued further into the lab.

It was around this time that they had begun to hear footsteps echoing throughout the facility as more Phyrexian workers noticed the alarms that they had continued to trip.

Noteworthy Postgame Events
