Plot Synopsis
The adventurers were greeted by a longswordsman that served as the Master Retainer of a great kingdom. He spoke of a terrible plague and mass murder that had taken everyone's lives in his kingdom but his. The man responsible had then walked in and taken over a castle full of corpses. The swordsman, Shian, fled to find help and return that day.
When the adventurers arrived, they snuck through a mountain escape passage. During this, they discovered that the water had been poisoned. Upon entering the premises of the kingdom, they were encounted by unusual zombie-like creatures. These appeared to be former villagers and townsfolk. They seemed unresponsive and aimless, but reacted harshly when directly addressed or confronted.
The party hurried to the castle and snuck in a back entrance. Xyler took the chance to steal the evil mage's staff and a massive combat ensued. All of the royal guard (in zombie-mode) attacked the party, who barely survived.
Information on a cure was extracted from the mage, and the party was able to save those that hadn't been killed in the combat.
