The Abyss Which Stares Back [Dirge of the Depths] 7

Plot Synopsis

The party started by arriving at the entrance of the Abyssling cave, finding it surrounded by 5 Abysslings. The party quickly defeats these abysslings with a combination of lightning magic and just using their weapons to obliterate them in 2 rounds. Once they defeated the abysslings, the parties went down into the cave and swam through a long tunnel until they reached an air pocket, in which they headed to the surface. As they got outside onto the surface, the party summoned some light, finding a puzzle in Aquain, which is translated by Bard, then the cipher on it is quickly solved by Varis, and then Pix inputs the correct buttons in the correct order, opening up the door. Behind the door, the party doesn’t see too far, but with the help of Varis’s incants, which worked like glow sticks, the party saw what looked like a blob that went up to around waist height. While looking at the blob, they figured out it was actually a bush, and Asiel attempted to cross the section to the other side, ending up triggering a trap and getting hit, but thanks to the help of Lug, he did not go unconscious. After dealing with the aftermath of the trap going off, the party deliberated on how to get a light source and make sure they don’t trigger more traps and came up with the bright idea of trying to set the bushes of fire and then quickly relaxing that it was a bad idea decided to rip ub the bushes to be able to safely walk across it. While going through the processes of ripping it up triggered the trap a few more times, and ended up getting to the other side hurt and requiring the healing of other party members. After healing up a bit, the party went to the next area, finding a similar room with a similar door puzzle as before, finding out after deciphering it that the answer was the same, and inputting it and opening up the door. After going through the door, they found themselves in a similar trap hallway as before, and triggering it a few times to get across this time, taking more damage due to it and having to heal up more, but also figuring out how to stop the trigger and collecting some rope from the trap. After they crossed that challenge, they reached another puzzle door with a corpse containing an ancient language, but before they started to crack it, they attempted the same input as before, finding that it opened the door and found another tunnel that led into the water, as well as a singular bush. While in the chamber, Chad jumps directly onto the bush, triggering a spike trap, almost killing them and causing the party to use up even more of their healing. Then, while waiting around for everyone to be ready to head down into the tunnel, the party started to play a large form of the rock, paper, scissors game, getting half of the group into it. Finally, after everyone was ready, the party ended the session with the party going down the underwater tunnel, finding themselves in a room with a large pillar in the middle and a large serpentine creature eating up an abyssling, and started to swim towards the party.
