Raiders of the Serpent Sea Chapter 3-3
Plot Synopsis
Tanmayta's Journal, Week 3
Although I gladly would have remained weeks longer in that homely little cabin, warm against the cold outside and analyzing every detail of At'ena's message, it seems time may be of the essence (oh, the irony). From what I have heard of these witches regardless of whtaever the spear's powers may be, whatever they want with it cannot be good. I may have to remember to clarify with one of the party, perhaps Tyr Odin, what the details are. After all, it would hardly be fitting for someone who claims to be learned, much less an At'enite, to go forward without full foreknowledge and risk harm because of it. One silver lining is that it seems Siddhe will be remaining with Thor and Sif, for which I am glad. Not only will the child get to keep out of the cold, such a journey is little place for a child. I've seen too many die already, let her remain here, out of danger. I was doubly glad of this when it became clear what we were going to be dealing with. The fact that these witches seem capable enough to create such a scale of hindrance on our path from another plane no less is made worse by the fact that the magic they are using is strange and unnatural, of a sort I'm unfamiliar with. Of course it was almost preferable to the realm we ended up in. The physical discomfort is less so, for although I will have to thank Spite sincerely for helping me avoid the muck, I don't like anything that seems to sap at our very essence. The stairwell under the tower we found ourselves in was the worst of it. Somehow, whatever the Tower was doing with the forced sacrifices was even worse than normal antimagic abominatinos, which I did not think was possible. After that, I was glad to be out... even if what it led to was somehow enough zombies to empty Anubis's realm.
Odin’s Journal: Chapter 3
the wind had been howling nonstop through the night but it seems party was able to rest well as did Siddhe. Good. I do worry about her safety often. In anycase now though. We are heading back out on the road once more to fight some witches and hopefully recover a fragment of the rainbow spear they hold. I doubt though they will politely hand it over. As we began our journey it ended up taking longer than expected and we ran into a wall of thorns. The area covered in the witches foul magic. Thankfully it seems spite still had a lantern of the dreaming. I remember my father telling stories of these lanterns. It worked thankfully and we made it in. The witches bog is a horrid place. Every step I take in here makes me wretch. We had encountered a few difficulties with spite seeming to want to go to a grove. Which not going to may prove to have been a mistake. Regardless, we encountered a puzzle room and were able to solve it. Destroying the anti magic zone we were in and seeming to at least lighten the draining effect of this realm. We ended up fighting my copy again. Got lucky and was able to dispatch him quickly. And now…time to deal with some witches. Still though…why must my mind plague me with anxiety and worry…I suppose that is what being mortal comes with. Anyway. Battle awaits
