Fate of Chains: Rozmakhigrad VIII [Pthora, Cahyali]

Plot Synopsis

Party, the night after returning to camp from the most recent mission, is startled awake by yells and a large fiery explosion in the distance. They look out and discover a large moving fire in the distance. One party member is able to tell the fire is in the shape of some sort of fire bird, specifically a dove or pigeon-like shape, and is magical in origin.

Party decided to go out and investigate the fires and discover burned trees and melted snow, some of which had frozen into a sheet of ice again in the cold Johtalit lands. Following the melted snow and reformed ice they stumble upon burnt animals and wagons, some of the missing Johtalit from camp.

When they reach the end of the trail they discover the source of the fire—a large fiery bird shape, which had at its heart a bird made of seemingly solid fire and ash. They quickly tried to converse with the bird creature before the bird flew at them, lighting them on fire. Party quickly fled while Ningguang activated a bunch of fire resistance, and stayed to try to communicate with the creature. After the creature giving out several “Brrrrrrppppt”s Ningguang absorbed its consciousness after convincing it that she was a friend then gave its consciousness back with the ability to speak and giving the creature the feeling of pain and what it feels like ot be on fire.

The creature was confused—after all fire is life so everything should be on fire! This makes so much sense! The creature was quickly reminded of what pain is by Ningguang after it attempted to light party on fire once again. Ningguang was eventually able to teach it to restrain its fiery aura and stop lighting people on fire then they led it back to camp.

Party then went ahead and convinced some of the Ossiris priests in camp to awaken this creatures sentience and also awakened a small snake named “Light”.
