Plot Synopsis
The party goes to the tower. They head up it, and find that it seems to be larger on the inside. As they ascend, they come to a long hallway. This hallway has many brass plaques on it, each with a name of one of the Day of Solar Wrath's victims. They hear light footsteps beyond the hallway's walls. At the end of the hallway, they come to a door covered with moss and lichen. They go through, and find Gwyll - Icarian's other half - sitting on the other side. He reveals his nature as the Old Dreamt of Grief: the self-professed "rot of the soul", and that the Carrion King had created this place after the Day of Solar Wrath to draw power from the mourning souls.
In an act of mockery to the party, he pulls out a stone and hands it to the party, saying that the only way to end this is to break the stone and begin the Day of Solar Wrath. The party debates over this a while, before Volke says that he will take this sin on himself and breaks it. Time ticks forwards, and the apocalypse begins. The party finds themselves suddenly in a rainforest far away from the city, as the souls' determination and grief and desire not to let this end transforms the entire city into a humanoid figure, wielding a spear and all of Dahabu's greatest conquering magic. The party fights the city, making their way through a flood of souls up to its head. They then leap inside, falling through a tunnel crusted with milphite until they find Gwyll, curled up in a giant crystal. They break the crystal, and Gwyll falls out.
They each experience distorted scenes of grief for them, and then open their eyes to a scene of Gwyll curled up in some Vervish ruins. The Watcher and Vladisk run to comfort him, but he sneers at them and says he is not his brother, then musters all of the grief of the fallen city and transforms into a visage of the Carrion King as he enervates the Watcher's vitality.
