Hook

Elzgar Hemgrin is looking for individuals to help retrieve a family heirloom recently lost in the blaze. Inquire within (what remains of) the shop called Hemgrins' Haberdashery.

Plot Synopsis

Five days ago, a fire started in one of the poor quarters of Rougtero. It burned for more that two days before it was brought under control, and it took another day to fully put it out. Since then, the city watch has been working double shifts to sort out the owners of goods and the looters who’ve come to take what they can. Since may buildings were empty due to the plague, the job is only more difficult.

They met at Hemgrins’ Haberdashery, just as Elzgar and his sons were packing up what remained of their shop.
Elzgar Hemgrin is a dwarf in his middling years, short even for a dwarf. He has dark hair, dark eyes, and keeps his beard in a single braid tied with gold thread. He has several injuries; most obviously his left arm is in a sling and he’s keeping his right foot off the ground. Even still, he is impeccably dressed.

Elzgar explained that, upon returning to their shop, they found a group of hoodlums stealing a family heirloom: a pendant traditionally given as a bridegift in the Hemgrin clan. He wanted the thieves punished, and he didn’t care how.

They investigated, found the hoodlums, and rounded a few up. Bob took them to the Stockade and gave a report.
During this time, they also discovered an armored wagon that people of the neighborhood were eager to visit. After a few minutes observation, they discovered that people were selling their damaged properties to the people in the wagon. Questioning the people in the wagon, they learned of a project to acquire plots for further development. Specifically, it would create jobs in the area.

They discovered that the hoodlums were hired to take the pendant by a weaver down the street, a human by the name of Gammond.

Upon confrontation, Gammond admitted to hiring the thugs, but to pay off his debts to the Casino in Fordshire. He told the group that they would find the pendant there.

They traveled to the casino to see Bart, the proprietor. Without much conflict, and without even dodging the issue much, Bart admitted to sometimes conducting ‘social experiments’ by pushing some people into odd tasks. He turned over the pendant, and gave everyone 100sp in chips to spend at the gaming tables.
The group shopped, or gambled, or otherwise entertained themselves before staying the night. They returned to Rougtero the following day, and returned the pendant to Elzgar.

Elzgar is currently unpacking his goods at his new location only three blocks north of the Natatorium.
