Stormwatch V [Gilded Slumber] || Ley'Ork, Cahyali

Plot Synopsis

The party is confronted by Akh Ranh, an ancient dragon of the volcano. He was the consort of Thalyss Alya, the “Progenitor” and a dragon who assisted mortals during the beginning of nascent mortal civilization. He accuses them of defiling her and harming her, and they realize that the dragon skeleton they saw in the basement of Sparkpoint Labs was, in fact, Thalyss Alya.

They explain that the HTUC is at fault and they are innocent, and Akh Ranh says that all mortals are the same and that, by rights, he should burn every mortal city to the ground. The party appeals to his respect for Vulvenaar as a fellow dragon and his love for Thalyss Alya, and manages to convince him that not all mortals are the same and some are capable of change and respect. He questions if they are strong enough to back up their words, and challenges them to draw his blood.

Blade levels his sword and asks what arena they will fight him. He touches his snout to the sword, and states that the battle will be in the sky. He then destroys the top of the mountain and flies off, and the party watches as a swarm of wyverns follows him. The party rushes back to their airship, sitting just above a flood of lava, and takes off to battle him in the sky.

After a difficult battle, Skib is killed. Domino manages to crush one of his scales as he is harpooned to the ship, and Vulvenaar slashes his side. At that time, the swarm of wyverns disperses and the lava calms. He lands and offers the crushed scale to the party, expressing his respect and saying that, if they call him, he will come. Jessie nervously offers him the dragon egg they had found before, and with relief he says it hatched… then both him and Vulvenaar realize at the same time that they are father and son. He bids them well, then flies into the blue skies.
