Cave Story (Game 1) [Gilded Slumber] (Alba Bay, Shinneok, Cahyali)
Plot Synopsis
The game started with the party meeting up on the Alba Bay of Shinneok near a newly discover cave. They met man named Toby Brown, a mysterious member of the HTUC wearing a ten-gallon hat from Ley’Ork. He gave them all contracts that had a few loose ends in them but were still fairly tight.
The party entered this old cave, noting strange carvings on the wall that added up to nothing. They entered a room with a raised pedestal that Ace stood on, revealing several other exits. Going down the left path, Jangzhi knocked over a wall and narrowly avoided being impaled by a spear. The party found a room with 6 pedestals on them that needed specific items on them. Eri was the only smart one in that she did not climb on top of the pedestals immediately. If the incorrect items were placed, the ceiling glowed a dark red and a loud incorrect buzzer noise played. Some Arcadian writing on the floor noted 6 items to be placed on the pedestal. A shimmering rock, a red flower, a silent fungus, a yellow vegetable, a golden chalice and a blue cape.
The party tried to get Toby to buy some of the items while they explored the cave. It went okay thanks to Leonidas being very crafty in legalese. The party followed a path downwards. Vijaya threw a bunch of rocks onto a pressure plate that summoned so many boulders it plugged the system. Jangzhi broke through the necessary boulders and the party came to a fork in the road. One path led them to a crypt filled with coffins marked with the symbol of Anubis and covered in dirt. They opened the only one without dirt and found the chalice. Vijaya had a massive trip upon holding it where she saw some strange, mystical vision of an alternate world. The party also found a storage room filled with rotting food, with a rotten and moldy squash stuck in the crates. They placed the items on the pedestal and no buzzer played. The group went back to Toby and the combined efforts of Shahz and Eri convinced him to contact a friend who knew Arcadian. Her name was Sylvia Herse, an elvish scholar of Shinneok history and the Oxis’ relation to the different planes throughout history. She has joined the party, but is unable to fight. This is where the game left off.
