A Whispering Flood: Ship of Fools II (GRP, Jaern)

Plot Synopsis

The party wakes up and drinks an oddly refreshing drink at the tavern: a dangerously blue concoction named Gator-Ale. They leave the tavern, to see that the corrupted ship is now visible on the horizon. It doesn't seem to be actively moving closer, but it did move overnight. They plan more on how to sink it, settling on heavy firepower and explosives. Alette and Michael start beefing. Everyone except Siya and Rhea go to scout the ship, while the former two go to intercept a supply ship from Centralia and try to buy gunpowder.

Siya scams the merchants out of one barrel of gunpowder, as well as some vials of alchemists' fire. The rest of the party sees that the ship has grown even more corrupted, with flesh starting to cover the bottom. They reconvene and decide to talk the plan over with the Onivero hunters. The Onivero clock Siya as having a connection to the Nest and threaten to kill her, relenting when the party promises they will neutralize her if she begins to turn. After being told about the strange "Neptunian Church", they put together that the church is, in fact, worshiping the Nest and controlling it somehow. They are most likely responsible for the Nest's threat of making landfall.

The party follows the Onivero's advice and decides to take out the church first, to cut off any commands coming from them before handling the Nest proper. They sneak down to the basement of the church under the guise of a mutation ritual, and find a huge jellyfish monster beneath operating as a hub of communications. They engage in a battle trying to destroy it, and emerge victorious yet exhausted. Siya died during the battle but was revived by Kisha, and Alette was temporarily dominated by the jellyfish. From here, they plan to regroup and rest...
