The Lonely Mountain and the Goddess I (Pthora, Cahyali)

Plot Synopsis

The party begins with their escape from Rozmakhigrad, which is being razed by a mysterious, flaming entity which is decimating guards and destroying buildings. They manage to sneak out of their binds and find potatoes for their escape, and then retrieve their items and pets. On the way out, they loot some survival supplies and make a break for it in the southeastern direction. They travel awhile in the dark, and eventually find a camp. Using the tents there, they make camp for the night and cook a hot meal.

In the night, a large creature comes by, but fails to get through Floki's warding spell and wanders off. They wake up and continue southeast, eventually coming to a small frozen creek running parallel to their travel. As they continue onwards, the creek enlarges to a good-sized river whose surface has melted. Interestingly enough, it seems to flow two directions at once. They come to the end of the river and find a strange, shimmering portal which seems to be the cause of the strange river flow.

Coming out from the treeline is a direpaw, a bear-like beast which attacks them. They manage to defeat it, with Annabelle turning it to stone. Trying to get out of the area, the group blindly goes through the portal and finds a pair of Johtalit shamans: Kleemudor lizards native to the area. Floki is able to translate some of their Sel'ict, and they ally with the Johtalit. The head shaman leads them out of the woods, to the towns of Taqtu-Tasiq. The high priestess there greets them, accompanied by a half-elven huntress calling herself Elli, and offers them refuge in the towns until the brutal Pthoran winter ends - as long as they pull their own weight. Taqtu-Tasiq is protected from the winter, as it never snows there due to the calm, stable leyspring in the area.

For the first time in many days, the group has a proper meal and sleeps in a warm bed.
