Along Treacherous Lines IX - Blood Upon The Snow [S&S]
Plot Synopsis
The battle against Zima, revealing herself to be a lich, continues. Cyrus asks her what she knows about his past, and she mentions a “Father”, confirming this man to be Shahei Chibang - the Starbreaker Guild member - but says she knows nothing.
The party eventually overcomes her assaults of undead minions and brutal spells. As she dies, she unleashes one last act of revenge: a Scythe spell, targeted at Kentaro Michi. The scythe slashes open her throat, and she dies on the spot. At the moment, Anubis appears behind Rilo, offering him a deal: he can give up his adventurer’s resurrection to save her life. Rilo agrees, and Michi’s life returns to her.
As the last moments of the battle took place, Yugon had rushed to the Shogunbane, intending to claim it for the fight. Once Zima fell, Wisteria and Raiden ran after him. Inside the shield, Yugon has a vision: the shadow of the Kasha holding the weapon out, asking if this is his weapon. Yugon says “no”, and is pushed out to reality again with no Shogunbane in hand.
Wisteria finds a stolen Lithicore blueprint on Zima’s remains, and it seems she was intending to aid the Shogunate war effort and experiment on cybernetically modifying her undead minions using their funding. She takes the blueprint.
The party returns to Tiancheng and rushes Michi to a hospital. After taking some time to calm down from the fight, they recover and go out shopping on the town to prepare to face Zuanshi Hua. Later on, they meet with the “Clouds and Mist: Riches and Honor” party with Zuanshi Wei and Zhang Mingxing, and discuss how to infiltrate and assault the train.
