Riting Wrongs Session 4, Co-GM Arielle.

Plot Synopsis

The party arrived at the house of the “transportation expert” of Kuang Feng, one Li Yinuo. A short interaction resulted in Arikir and Hex telling Li of some tales from Jaern in exchange for transportation to the Zhalong Dai Plains where they need to retrieve vegetables for the rite. When they arrive they find themselves near the river and a small village by the name of Yuedao, population 500. They speak to the mayor, an elvish man on the younger end, by the name of Wan Ning. He informs the party that the vegetables they seek are long since extinct after the Fist of Gods Impact, but if they really want to know more they should see the town historian. They are pointed in the direction and arrive at the house of a tall female garnet draconic lineage wearing modest clothing and draconic spectacles. She lets them in, her name is Tian Ai and this is the 17th group that has come seeking the vegetables in her lifetime.

She tells the party 3 folktales of 3 disasters, 3 birds, and 3 gifts of seeds of the village that stood in the area before the Fist of God Impact. The first was a drought followed by a storm with a bird named Jingwei who gave the seeds of the Sishuigen, a root vegetable. The second was a plague with a bird named Zhenniao, and the seeds of the Ye Du, a leafy vegetable. The final was due to the action of mass cremation without respect, which was followed by a shadow over the village, the river flooding, and the land shaking. The bird in the final story was Peng, a shapeshifter, and the seeds were the Yong Shuishi, a allium vegetable.

After saying their goodbyes (and stealing soap) Hex rented a horse from Shi Kun, a citrine draconic lineage, slighter taller than average with black eyes. They went to the river where Guts destroyed the dam and Jingwei tried to drag him into the river. The other two spent the rest of the day rebuilding the dam for forgiveness. Guts was released but they were not given the seeds. They were told to seek out the other bird. They rested in the village, Hex in the stable, Guts outside, and Arikir in the mayor’s house for the village has no inn. The next day they searched the river for an underwater cave and after some time they found it. It curved up into an open air underground cavern with some activated Jinghua on the walls. They venture deeper and deeper climbing down a hole as the concentration of Jinghua increases. As they reach the end they find an underground area coated with the stone and plants growing in its light. Guts eats one getting more ranks of magic build up and progressing his disease. They meet Peng who is annoyed that they continued this far, but decides after some back and forth that they should be allowed the seeds. Peng disperses into insects that climb up the party and dissolves them, reforming them on the surface by the river with seeds in Arikir’s hands.
