Hook

A strange commission has appeared on what adventurers' posting boards remain in fractured Ageron after the destruction of Vesuna and the demonic invasion. Within the power vacuums left on the continent, many boards remain blank, so the appearance of this crisp white parchment stands out anywhere. Written in an elaborate and neat cursive script, it reads as such: Dear adventurers, I desperately require the help of people strong and capable. I must find my stubborn kin, but have not the capability to locate him myself. I must journey with him to a place long-flooded and abandoned, in order to resolve the mess this land has found itself in. Pay will be ample, and Ageron, body, and soul alike will thank you for your assistance. Those interested, find me at the docks of Markduk at sunset. I will stay, until enough have come to embark. -A.E.

Plot Synopsis

The party is commissioned by a mage calling herself Aisling Elery, asking them to escort her to Ageron’s Southern Forest to locate her errant brother, and then to a city underwater in order to carry out some mysterious ritual she claims will purify… something. Aisling refuses to elaborate when the party asks. After preparations, they set off on John Oldman’s boat, sailing through a storm before arriving at a small fishing village in the Southern Forest. The villagers let the party know of old ruins just outside the village, which had been thoroughly excavated by archaeologists. Aisling says that her brother enjoys hanging around abandoned ruins, so they go and find him there: a strange and quiet man named Lionel Elery, suffering from a grave poisoned wound. They convince him to come along and find ruins on an island poking out of the ocean, containing odd arcane mechanisms. They activate these mechanisms, and a massive shield deploys over a great underwater city, steadily draining the water out.
