Adventurers wanted for a capture during the heat of battle. Highly dangerous. Ask for Lycurgus at the Stopover Inn at three.

Plot Synopsis

The adventurers arrive and meet King Lycurgus of Lakdamon with some guards, as well as a plump effeminate man named Alcibiades. Lycurgus, looking to Alcibiades, informs the adventurers that he has recently learned of a planned attack on one of his island colonies. A fleet of Athyrean ships is being sent, and he can't get reinforcements there because his homeland has no portals that can get them there. The colony, however, does have a portal, so the adventurers will be taken there where they must capture the leader of this fleet assaulting the colony and bring her to Lycurgus. After working out a method of payment, the adventurers agree and get underway.

Upon arriving, the adventurers realize they have more than a half day before the fleet arrives (which will happen in the early morning), so they decide to take the battle to them. Preparing some shadow drakos just after dark, they adventurers set out high in the night-time sky. About an hour before the ships would arrive, the party comes upon them, a group of about a dozen maraujos and numerous dolphins and support vessels, making haste towards the colony. Avoiding detection, Jacob is sent down to start wreaking some havoc with Demolishes. He manages to sink two ships before the shadow drakos are finally spotted and general chaos ensues. Sten, Dom, and D'leyna are dropped onto the ship that the captain is spotted on and begin wading their way through the crew of the ship, while Bridgewater, after halt timing a few more ships, draws fire on the drako, as well as getting air mages to chase him. D'leyna and Sten both get thrown into the water eventually during the fight, and manage to finish off the marines they brought down with them. Dom finds the admiral of the fleet and takes off with her, sustaining much fire. Meanwhile, Jacob has destroyed or incapacitated at least five ships, a mix of maraujos and kurajos, and through some precision casting sinks a few with little actual damage. Seeing that the objective has been completed, Bridgewater sweeps through and grabs the party, after pausing to earthbone and pause time a few water-logged lizards and marines.

They hurry back to Lycurgus, who is delighted at their success. He reaches into the admiral's neckline and takes from her an amulet, which he sends back to the portal with Alcibiades. Bridgewater decides this is an opportune moment to get some supplies, and follows back to the portal hub where he sees Alcibiades concentrating upon the amulet for a moment until a new portal appears, at which point numerous troops bearing the Lakdamonian colors begin pouring through.

The more battle-oriented of the party choose to stay and fight the remains of the fleet that hits the beaches an hour later, while the rest are paid and sent on their merry way, except for Jacob who is commended for his efforts in disabling many ships without destroying them. After the now lopsided battle is complete, Jacob assists Lycurgus' people in recovery efforts and is promised a ship of his own (kurajo size) when their war is over.

Everyone gets back alive and the rewards are given.
