The Battle at Brokenreach II (Shinneok, Cahyali)

Plot Synopsis

The party breaks through the glass within Katerina's office, and begins to fight her as the Shinnean army arrives to retake the fort. She dies several times, but always gets back up. Kiduen is body destroyed, but her soul possesses Charlie's body and they battle on in tandem. As the end of the combat approaches, Kiduen casts Wish to Orus and summons a Sunstrike, which is then amplified by Charlie. It kills Zimina, and it takes some time for her to rise again. Lichen and moss surrounds the crater where she lies, and the party notices a silhouette of a small figure - likely a Dreamt - which kneels over her as she rises up. She seems scared, and runs back to the fort as she orders her forces to retreat.

The party chases her as she gathers her highest officers and prepares to teleport back to Pthora. They leave, but a Trace Teleport traces her and her people back to Polis, Pthora's capital. The party burns down the boats the Pthoran army had begun to escape to, and in response a lieutenant drops a strange vial which immolates him and nearly a hundred nearby Pthoran soldiers - stating that "this flame may be put out, but the embers persist forever." Charlie offers an out for the remaining forces, offering for some of them to desert Pthora and come with her to Midnight's Rest. About twenty accept. Gwendolyn Young pays the party 1000 gold each, thanking them for the information gained regarding Zimina's immortality despite their failure to kill her.

They travel to Midnight's Rest and get the soldiers situated, promising to bring their families over later. The party takes some time to relax in Midnight's Rest, and Kiduen's soul is placed into a new body at the morgue and revived (flavored Isis Res). They then disperse to their homes again.
