MCAS VIII - A Crack in the Lens 2 (Ruefang, Cahyali)

Plot Synopsis

The party secured their way into the Chongbai Opera House for the showing of a revolutionary new play, but as the show played on-stage, the adventurers had their focus set on ousting the members of the Immortal Eight. They were able to find encrypted communiques in certain programs for the show, as well as spot the four suspicious members of the summit meeting they attended yesterday.

After getting a lay of the land, Ignita was able to find that the three suspicious Commission employees all seemed to be hirudo in disguise–and surmised that The Faceless One had created three potential apprentices to compete and rival one another in order to become his next-in-line. Xing Yun Yue also deciphered the encrypted message in the program, finding that it contained instructions for Alejandro de Zinera to capture Blake’s Cove under Neuvo Zinera control, for the conspiracy, and that it would be important in setting the stage for a larger looming conflict. Additionally, there was a notice informing the conspirators of the identities of several adventurers who were responsible for disrupting the Ars Machina project, which included Reese Hale, Bailin Howard, and Oswald, as well as others not in the party.

During the Intermission, one of the identified hirudo left the opera towards the Commission of Trade, and the other two seems to communicate with The Faceless One, surmised to be disguised as Liu Wuxiang, and informed of the adventurers responsible for disrupting their plans. As the second act began, Su Xian and Katsu Ryo initiated a cloak-and-dagger assault on Reese and Katsuo, at the same time as Oswald and Bailin began a surprise attack on Xiao Wulong in his hidden dungeon.
