TSB;EoA: Katabasis Game 8 (The Desert of Set, Kurago)

Plot Synopsis

The party woke up to find the house of The Witch to be weirdly empty. Looking around, they didn’t find much outside of a bit of wine, which Feare took and paid with sushi. Heading outside, they found “The Witch” casting some sort of ritual of some kind, only to be interrupted by another nothingness being opened inside the forest. The creature’s appendage wasn’t able to pierce through the plane though, and as such it merely sunk back into the astral sea, leaving the nothingness behind.

“The Witch” told an old tale where she once spoke with a creature similar to the one currently creating the nothingness. She dubbed it a “Nol” and stated they tend to avoid the material planes. The last she’d heard from one was around 9,000 years ago, but it then mysteriously disappeared, which made it stranger that another would show up in a similar location. The party began to worry if something was luring these Nols here to attack or hunt them.

Deciding the best course of action for now was to head to Duat, “The Witch” opened a secret passage to the Desert of Set, a harsh delve known to be one of the most draining. The area drained spirits and creatures twice as fast as normal, so thankfully the party still had some remaining onionweed tea. The intense heat gave Feare and Agni heatstroke. Rik temporarily appeared and spoke with Liliana about the potentiality of his parents working on her ship, which she neither confirmed nor denied, stating that if she did then they likely worked more with the Golden Leaf as his subordinates rather than under her direct command.

Continuing to traverse the desert, the party was able to get to Duat, though they were faced with earthquakes and severe mysterious thunderstorms that almost hit Nakai and Lucero with an extreme blast of lightning. Though they were able to make it to Duat just as the storms ended.

The party traversed town a bit, happy to be in the safer Mists once again. Looking for a tailor, the party bumped into Rob the Tailor, but weren’t certain if he was alive or a spirit. In his high stupor, he told the party about an old Dahabian burial item called a sash of passage, which looks similar to the thing Feare saw in their dreams. The only ones still worn in the Kurago are now all buried though, meaning the party will have to explore some old, forgotten buildings on the cusp of being forgotten by the masses. He also told the party to meet with a being in the city known as Thon, a baboon-like being with a great library of knowledge that may help on their journey.
