TSB;EoA: Veins of Primordial Blight [Session 6] (Wilderness; Elemental Plane of Fire)

Plot Synopsis

After about an hour of full out sprinting the party makes it to the ship. Small hills of obsidian rise around the boat, and spires of it stretch around the sides of it and up into the sky. Small writhing tendrils reach up around and through the boat- reaching up into the cloud cover above. If one did not know this was the elemental plane of fire- it would be incredibly hard to tell here. The ship itself is fully ice now, no trace of any wood. Below the ship black ichor seems to drip from between the planks, pooling in the shadows. The boat itself isn’t completely above the surface. The lower deck is currently below the obsidian. Any objects on the deck of the ship are obsidian, but they don't have any reflections or shadows- they look like a 2d square. A small star-like light seems to be circling the ship from within the clouds, and another small object seems to be wedged between the top mast and the crow’s nest. Moryena recognises the bird as a Starbird and the object as likely its nest. Ignis tries to befriend the mother bird, which is semi successful. They see its talons are blackened and have a strange purple sheen to them.

The party decides to climb up onto the boat to explore, and Moryena uses a grappling hook to climb up to the nest. WIthin they see a number of shed starbird-gems, and two obsidian statues of baby starbirds, though they also have a purple sheen. Ji and Wisteria explore below deck, finding more obsidian objects before they return up top. With the star-gems in hand, they believe that they have completed the task they were sent here to do. Ji and Wisteria want to explore the ship a bit more though, and head down below deck again, only to be statue-ified upon reaching the second deck. Moryena and Ignis start to go down, but after Moryena is statue-ified Ignis drags her out and calls Tal for help.

Tal states that he can bring them back, but that Ignis probably needs to grab the other party members as Tal can’t teleport the people still within the ship. Ignis proceeds to blast two massive holes into the ship before finding the others and dragging them out. Tal and Ignis bring them back to Mordrik, and wait for them to un-statue-ify.

Within their minds the other three find themselves outside of what appears to be Moryena’s childhood home in Pthora. They enter, and while some details are off, it is a near perfect replica. They explore the house a bit before spotting something in the fireplace. Looking closer they see the two chicks from the nest, fast asleep. The party is able to put together a small transport-pot to carry them in and keep them warm, before wandering outside again. They pick a direction and begin to walk, soon having reality break around them- leaving the three in the void once again. Eventually they come upon a wall, Ji- in the spur of the moment, tries to think of some kind of portal and will it into existence. This brings them to the aftermath of Ji leaving the Kurago, though they are able to leave the weird mind-prison and walk up again on the island of Mordrik. In the 3 days they had been gone, Ignis had positioned them around the deck which he was fishing, and a little bit of chaos ensues as they unfreeze, though it is quickly resolved.

The chicks in the pot have also disappeared, and in a panic Moryena gets Tal to teleport them back so that they might rescue the chicks from becoming statue-ifed again. The mother Starbird is able to rescue her chicks and bring them back down so they could be brought out of the wasteland.
