Funeral Rains: Red Session 3/ Finale

Plot Synopsis

As the fight occurs Fianon stumbles upon the first Daliad who died earlier and upon grasping its hand while attempting to save its life Fianon gets visions of his family’s bloodline tracing back to the original hero of the time they stepped into and then his hand starts to glow. Jumping back to the end of the previous session red rains sears to fall as fighting ensues. Ultimately Maximillian Von Werner is wounded in the heart and though he seems to be using blood magic to keep his heart beating he stumbles around and falls into the ocean, fate unknown.

Meanwhile Fianon’s new glowing arm urges him to go into the water. The party does and they end up in the Dreaming, where they find a library. They exchange some inconsequential items, crystal flowers, a dark locked assassin, and some all curing water, to get some books. They learn that the rain is the result of a ritual where a dreamt dies; they can invoke it, allowing their lifeforce to drive some effect. In this case it’s a warning system for Vervand. Though how long it will last or if it has any conditions are unknown. Fianon also gets some books on why magic isn’t real (it’s like flat Earth theory), and they get a comic book on how to get Fae powers.

Most of the party leaves through the water while Mercy takes the long way around. Back in the temple on the third tier the party learns the temple is a center of knowledge. They can talk to or travel to the past to understand how it works, but can’t affect it. The druids were confused why they could trade in the library as it should affect the past, but alas they remained unsure. Different symbols (all with 9 points) correspond to different times. It also turns out that people with blood relations to those in the past can step into that person’s role and get a first person point of view, which is what Fianon did. This awakened something in his arm, some ancestral blood related thing.

Meanwhile Mercy through reading the comic books finds exactly 1 actually plausible way to get fae powers. All the book says is to soak in “fae juices” for 10000 years. With 10000 years to kill Mercy gets some ideas of what Fae juices are and mixes them together into a hot tub and sits. 10000 years later she has gained the power to turn water into fae juice as she has become the lord of fae juice.
